LEAGUE RULES

  1. WHIFFS and COUNTING STROKES.  Be sure to count all strokes, including whiffs​.

  2. TEEING: The ball must be placed somewhere on the teeing ground.  If ball markers are present then the ball must be placed between or behind the markers. Never in front of them.

  3. BALL: Player may not change ball once it is in play until that hole is completed.

  4. ARTIFICIAL OBSTRUCTION: You may take 1 club length relief (not nearer the hole) from memorial markers, driveways, pipe-hydrants, drain covers, new shrubbery, yard markers, shelters, ground under repair, standing water, or hole made by a burrowing animal without a penalty.  But, if in bunker, must be dropped in the bunker.

  5. MARSH GRASS:  On hole #7, if your ball lands in the “marsh grass”, take a free drop NO closer to the hole.  No penalty.

  6.  LOST BALL: A lost ball is a ball that cannot be found in bounds.  Ball is lost when it cannot be found in 3 minutes.  A ball may be dropped with a 1 stroke penalty as near as possible to where the ball was lost, no nearer to the hole.  If you think your ball is lost or out of bounds, declare and hit a provisional ball.  If original ball is found in bounds, it becomes the ball in play, no penalty.

  7. ON PUTTING GREEN: Ball is marked by placing marker behind the ball.  All putts must be putted out - no gimmies.  The flag pole may be left in the hole or removed, which ever the golfer prefers.  But if the flag pole is lying on the green, hitting it while putting is a 2 stroke penalty.

  8. STRIKING BALL ON GREEN:  2 stroke penalty.  No penalty for hitting a ball with an approach shot, only when putting.  Hit ball should be returned to original position.

  9. OUT OF BOUNDS: Out of bounds is defined on the official course score card as tree line on 1,5,6, and 7, and fence line on 8 and 9.  If you hit or think that your ball went out of bounds, you declare and hit a provisional ball.  If you find the original ball, it becomes the ball in play, no penalty.  If you cannot find it, continue with provisional ball.

EXAMPLE: if tee shot goes out of bounds, player re-tees, hits and lies 3

If you have not hit a provisional ball and cannot find you ball, then you must drop a ball nearest to the point of entry at which your ball went out of bounds, and take a 2 stroke penalty.  You would then lie 3, hitting 4.  

If you hit out of bounds with a fairway shot, drop and hit a provisional ball from that spot.  Add 2 strokes to whatever score you had at that point, 1 stroke for the re-hit and 1 penalty stroke.

ETIQUETTE

  1. Play “ready golf”. Playing honors can slow play. Whoever is ready hits.

  3. When approaching the greens to putt, be sure your bag or cart is not left in front of the green.  Bring it to either side or to the rear of the green.
  4. Never walk in front of another player when she is hitting.
  5. Never step on the line of a ball on the putting green
  6. No one should move, talk, or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a payer is addressing the ball or making a stroke.
  7. If you signed up but are unable to play, please call a person you signed up with or another member to let them know.
  8. On Par 3’s, do not tee off until the green is clear.
  9. Replace divots​
  10. Have FUN!!!

BYLAWS

1.  Yearly league dues are $35.00

2.  In order to qualify for year-end prizes, golfer must play ½ of total seasonal games played.

3.  Membership will be limited to 50.  A waiting list will be maintained.

4.  Non-members of the Lockport Golf Club each week must be signed in as a guest by a member.  Payment of golf and cart fees will be paid to the member who signed them in that day.

5.  RAIN-OUTS: You will be notified by email by 7am if there will be no golf.  If rain starts while playing, ½ of players who show up for golf must finish for round to qualify for prizes.

6.  STARTING TEE-OFF TIMES:  
       May & September – 8:00am
       June, July, August – 7:30am
 
7.  All classes will tee from the white tees.  You may tee from anywhere in the tee box.  See League Rule #2.

8.  We will be playing as foursomes..

9.  Members will be placed into one of four classes, namely A, B, C or D for determining prizes

10.  SCORE CARDS: 2 score cards are to be kept by each group of players.  After recording the scores in the record book, place one card in each of the 2 pockets on the inside cover of the record book.

11.  No metal cleats are allowed to be worn on the course.

12.  REFUND OF DUES: If a person pays their dues, but is unable to golf any games, their fee will be refunded.
